This initiative is framed within the the project called: Supporting the development of an early-stage technology cluster in Córdoba, Argentina, and it includes as its main objectives the following points:

Providing aid to the ecosystem structural problems identified during the i-teams pilot test by means of a closer association between Cambridge and Córdoba in 2020 and 2021, with direct support towards the growth of the local technological cluster.

Offering the Cambridge innovation ecosystem experience to the innovation teams that participate in the i- Teams program to create local skills and capabilities.

Working on specific innovative projects while promoting technologically based companies in the province of Córdoba and approaching dynamic industrial sub-sectors that may improve the competitiveness and general welfare of the region.

Analyzing the i-Teams model as a concept to use in middle-income countries to stimulate actively the growth of local clusters.

The project received 60,000 euros total finance, within the framework of a Global Challenges Research Fund summon. Such funds support innovative projects that work on special challenges in developing countries. The Fund is managed by Research England, an organism that belongs to the state agency that finances science and innovation in the United Kingdom.

All along this year, a series of activities related to this project will be carried out. There will be activities open to the university community as well as closed ones targeted to specific professionals in the entrepreneurship and technology transfer sector.

It is important to highlight that the collaboration among participants in this sector started in November 2018 when a group of researchers and experts on innovation from the University of Cambridge and from the St John’s Innovation Center (a business incubator from the University of Cambridge) visited Córdoba, financed by a British Council scholarship.

After this visit, the Director of the I-Teams program, Ms. Amy Weatherup and the scientific entrepreneur Dr. Jessica Ocampos have been working collaboratively with the Global Shapers Córdoba Foundation as well as with the National University of Córdoba with the objective of implementing and developing i-Teams, the scientists-entrepreneurs training program in Córdoba. The first pilot program was executed in 2019 and the second one was implemented online in 2020.

The objective of i-Teams Córdoba is to promote the development of a new local technological cluster in our region.
